This place near Bormio is well worth a visit, not sure if they have the mud stuff but walking thru tunnels cut into the rock face waist high in hot mineral water is a hoot - you work your way through 6/7 different rooms - I recall one is just 5 or 6 wooden buckets overhead - you pull the rope and get a bucketful of ice water tipped on you. Ends up in a spectacular outdoor hot pool with a great view down the valley. All very James Bond vibe as you wade through these dark tunnels - some just end in iron grids blocking the way.

| a.j., there's an evening bus service which runs every hour to Monetier from Briancon and back, and it is free of charge. |
I know, but from that chalet it's easier to get the inhouse taxi. We did try for the bus and failed - not that organised or patient!

We also found Badkleinkircheim amazing, sitting in very scenic hot spa looking out over the slopes, but pobably not best for April?
Already very little snow when we were there end of March.

Monetier les Bains- Serre Chevalier is fantastic! |
They have to cool the water a bit because it comes out of the mountain too hot!

I think there’s a Spa in Belgium. If you could find a fridge or dry slope nearby, travel would be cheaper. I think it suffers from traffic noise though.

I have enjoyed lying in Banff hot springs pool looking at the snow on the fir trees and catching snowflakes with my tongue. Magical. Went there several times but only had that once, the other times were too warm for snow. I don’t know if there was mud on offer.
I haven’t been to Andorra Caldea but the website makes it look awesome. There will be snow in early April but it risks getting a bit warm by then.

| You can always choose not to go to the saunas. There's loads of other stuff to do. It's not like you have to strip off to nowt in the changing rooms and then off you go. |
Or just wrap a towel around you. No obligation to be naked; you just can’t wear a swimsuit.

I have to do this every year. Decent ski area plus lots of non skiing activities for my non skiing wife (winter walking, snowshoeing etc) plus a decent spa hotel. Austria is the place and 'wellness' is the word (yuk, just been sick in my mouth)
As others have said - Bad Gastein / Bad Hofgastein are famous for their spas - but the big public spas are rammed as everyone without a spa or a pool in their hotel piles in there and it's a bit of a sweaty mess tbh. Fun, but more of a muni baths vibe rather than the exclusive atmosphere your companions are looking for. However - in Bad Hofgastein there are several hotels with their own private spas AND with complimentary dressing gown access to the big public spa in the middle of town. It's pretty cool do do once or twice. Pop your dressing gown on, down in the lift and into a network of heated tunnels under the town and pop up again in the public spa, skipping the queues. Only a few (maybe 4) hotels in the town have access to the tunnels. Their own spas are better though.
We stayed here which was self catering and a lot cheaper than the associated hotel, but with the same facilities. https://www.panoramagastein.com/en/
Someone else mentioned Neustift and the Stubai glacier. I would second this as well. The value here is excellent and the facilities pretty good. Loads of high altitude skiing in the area and a quick transfer from Innsbruck. I can only recommend where I have stayed, which was here https://www.gasteigerhof.at/en. Like most 4* in the area they have a decent spa and offer plenty of treatments inhouse. The only disadvantage is that unless you have a car with you you need to take a ski bus to the glacier.

Not read all of this thread. I’d you want a ‘sort of’ spa option - I.e has most of stuff you’d expect a spa to have but not all singing all dancing. I stayed at mmv coeur des loges in Les menuires - it has a pool / hot tub. Lounging area and I’m pretty sure access to massages/spa treatments / beauty stuff as well. It’s wasn’t a pure spa escape but it has some of the stuff you’re looking for.
