Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Mt Fort Pralong tour

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Busier today in Verbier so went for a tour. Tried out a route over the Fenetre d'Alleves and down to Pralong

First had to get down backside of Mt Fort first.... The main chutes are now suicidal. Only way is skiers left

Gentle skin up round Mt Calme

Good view of the all the backside options of Mt Fort

Over the Fenetre d'Alleves and into some lovely shaded powder

Stayed hard right and found this very nice couloir

Snow starts to transform as you get lower. Some sporty death crust here (where's the Kuro's when you need them...)

And this is starting to melt

The Barrage des Dix on the left

Down the path to Pralong with the Valais in the background - good snowplough practice!

The sleepy little village of Pralong

But it has a restaurant!

The prize...

Tracks on Bec de Rosses. Are they mad?

Another beautiful day in the mountains.

A few too many at the moment!

The Fenetre d'Alleves is visible here centre left of the picture - down from Mt Calme, past the Col de Prafleuri and then just round the next small peak. A 1 hr skin from the back of Mt Fort.

Nice pics. Good to see your still getting on it. Always fancied that tour. Looks like a nice mellow not so busy route. Did you take the route of the path via Mayentset on the descent?

I think so. Stayed high left as the valley floor came into sight. Longish zig zagging path which drops down onto the road about 1km out of Pralong and then ski down the "pavement" into the village. In good snow you wouldn't need to take the path. It's a really nice tour for a shortish skin. More bang for your bucks than Rosablanche.

Nice, that's one of the ways down there we didn't do, saves on the short skin out of the combe du prafleurli late in the day too. What was the way down like once below 2200m, especially getting out through the trees? Would it be easy if the snow was a bit better? Trying to contrast it to the way we went as we could have finished down that route but chose a couloir followed by a mega-bushwhack instead.
