have just got a pair of 2nd hand rossi bandit b83's and setting the forward pressure is being a bit of a pain.
have the rossi manual so no real excuse.
can't get the forward pressure indicator directly in center of indicator, wil get there evetually.
however leads me to a question. what exactly is forward pressure.
from the name i'm guessing it's how tight it's gripping the boot. but hate guessing
enquiring minds and all that..

Are you talking about setting the binding? If so and you don't know exactly what you are doing I'd leave it to someone who does (e.g. Ski service shop) otherwise you could badly injure yourself by coming out of the binding what you shouldn't or not releasing when you should (e.g. in a fall).

Forward Pressure
The Ski Bindings need to stay firmly attached to the Ski even when the Ski bends. If the Ski Bindings did not give any lengthway flexibility, then the Ski Bindings would jam if the Skis were bent. To prevent this, Ski Bindings provide adjustable forward pressure. This makes sure that heel piece is pressed forward against the Ski Boot. |

thanks for that. i've set up bindings previously and i'm quite pedantic about it but had only been following manuals etc. however didn't know the precise reason for forward pressure.

mugen, that description is only part of the story.
A correctly set forward pressure adjustment applies an 'industry wide standard pressure' to the heel of the boot, pushing it in to the toe piece. This then ensures that when your bindings are set, say to 7, that they actually release at a force of 7 - ie, if the FP is too light your binding might actually release at 6 even though it says y in the window, & vica versa.
