Jackson Hole's Trademark Aerial Tram Will Be Retired at the End of Summer '06. After 40 years of service, running Summer and Winter, it has been decided that the time is right to remove it before any safety issues arise...
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is owned by the Kemmerer Family who hope that state funding may be made available to help fund a replacement in the near future.

about time! I'm not a fan of trams at the best of times, usually crowded, can't sit down and dumps a load of people at the top at the same time.
As long as you can still get to the same part of the mountain with some new lifts it's a good thing IMHO.

60 people every 15 minutes. The tram was very much about limiting the number of people skiing from the summit and discouraging pussys like you from going there.
