Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

This makes less than pleasant viewing. He suffered traumatic head and chest injuries and is currently in intensive care.

Injuries are not thought to be life threatening I understand. Still bad enough in the first place - horrendous Sad

rob@rar, according to the news here they are keeping him an artificial coma but they seem more optimistic today. He had severe head and chest injuries according to my local newspaper. The midday press conference from the Innsbruck Hospital said he is no longer in an acute life-threatening state, but will remain in an artificial coma for some days yet.

The swelling in the brain has decreased and they are concentrating on his neurological injuries as the highest priority. A CT scan carried out this morning has shown amongst other injuries he has a series of broken ribs, unspecified leg injuries and contusions on the lung. The 5.5 hour emergency operation last night was to stop bleeding into the brain and to release the pressure due to that and the severe concussion. They are monitoring his neurological functions in case another bleed starts.

That's a summary from the press conference that took place at midday today in the Innsbruck clinic.

I hope he comes out of this as well as Albrecht did. He was kept in an artificial coma for 3 weeks if I remember correctly.

one thing that is so telling regarding the severity of the impact is the damage to his skis, basically his left ski was only intact just in front and behind the bindings. Fairly horrific, just hope he's getting better.

The ski was intact, just the binding came off the ski.

ansta1, Chattonmill, neither. You can see the plate ripping off the ski while the binding didn't release

rob@rar, Scott Macartney has never been the same, that poor guy is permanently damaged....if you remember, his helmet shattered like an eggshell.

the force required to litterally rip the plate of the ski is massive, he is really lucky to be as well as he is, hope he recovers well and comes back to form, he was only just really back on form after his last major smash 5 years back
