Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Restaurant at the top of the Marmottes 1 lift is decent.

As for Bars in Town, Sphere does 2-4-1 Cocktails between 10-11pm, and O'Sharky's is a great bar also.

Lot of people recommended Igloo to me, but I really didn't think much of it.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

la Bergerie - Piste de Villard Reculas

Just at the blurb says - in fact our credit card did'nt work one day and the owner trusted us to pay the following day - which we did.

'At the foot of the Villard slopes (blue or red), a mountain chalet awaits you with its lovely South-facing terrace, traditional interior, and large open fireplace for those chilly days. In the summer, La Bergerie changes scenery and greets you from the heart of the alpine meadows with sheep and marmottes as a backdrop.'

The restaurant in the rock at Vaujany, that one half way down the Marmottes which everyone forgets about, the Alpette, the Thai place in Auris and the one at the bottom of the Maronne chairlift, also at Auris. But don't take your group down La Fuma to get there because they won't thank you for it.

IMO the best bars are in the old town (by the bottom of the bucket lift and tourist info), Pacific, O bar, yeti, underground, the bar above igloo, igloo (commercial nightclub) or caves (dirty more hardstyle nightclub, wicked)!

I used to use o'sharkeys but more for sport.

It's quite easy to chase the happy hours in Alpe d'Huez!

Not been for a few years but our favourite mountain restuarant was Le Cabane (sp?) had a great outside terrace with good view over the valley. Late afternoon they had a dj playing and on one afternoon there was a guy playing the sax.

alltnaha, in addition to those mentioned, the Combe Haute on the runout of the Sarenne is a nice way to congratulate yourself after doing the Sarenne, or you can access it from the Auris slopes

La Grange (at after the first stage of the Vaujany cablecar) does very nice pizzas and homemade genepi

In ADH itself - Au Ble Noir. Some of the best (trad) food in ADH. Best to book: 00 33 476804115

On the mountain:
Serge & Marie`s place (can`t rem the name). It`s half way down the Olmet run down to Oz (rt hand side). Small and simple but food beautifully cooked.
Le Petit Truc in Montfrais. Glorified cafe - simple food but well done.
The Signal Restaurant - more expensive than the above - but food pretty good and one to go to on a nice day and sit outside looking across the valley.
There`s a v good restaurant just off Le Gua run (bottom of Chalvet chair) - usually has excellent food.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

another suggestion: the restaurant overlooking the altiport. the food is decent but not as good as some places mentioned, but on a nice day it's great to sit on the terrace and watch the planes and helicopters come and go with a backdrop of the Ecrins mountains in the distance
