Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Inspired to Ski

I was just going to add a post to an existing thread - but couldn't find one! So it's about time Inspired to Ski had its own thread Toofy Grin

Just back from another really enjoyable and instructive week with Inspired to Ski in Courchevel. My third week with them and really can't praise both the instruction and the whole set-up enough. In Courchevel they are based in the Mark Warner Chalethotel Dahu, a short walk from the central Croisette. The Dahu has quite a lot of single rooms, with no supplement to pay. Excellent! Very Happy Very Happy

There were only 4 groups our week, with 2 instructors Tim Jackson and Bryan Hogg. A lot more for the week coming apparently. We were really lucky with the weather and were welcomed with fresh overnight snow on the first morning and a big dump the next day snowHead snowHead Our group had Tim and he was very good with us the first few days, pushing us and giving excellent feedback, including video every evening back at the Dahu. I really noticed the difference in my videos from when I went with them last year - due no doubt to the coaching throughout the year from Rob and Scott at InsideOut - I'll add to that thread...

Unfortunately, and for those who know Tim, he took an awkward fall near the end of the second day, in some soft snow off the piste Sad God knows how he managed to ski back but was obviously in a lot of pain. He is OK but hobbling round on crutches and of course was unable to instruct the rest of the week. No doubt he will be back instructing much too soon!

At the ninth hour replacements were found for him, and we were lucky to have Craig Conkie of BASS in Meribel for the next 2 days and then Martin Hemsley of ESF Meribel for the final day, both of whom were going to be instructing for ItS the following week. Although there wasn't really the progression and build-up throughout the week that you would expect with one instructor, nevertheless I think it's also beneficial to have different instructors with different styles, perhaps coming at things from a different angle. And they'd obviously been briefed about each of us Madeye-Smiley Madeye-Smiley . We had a week of tackling steeper runs, short radius turns, soft snow off-piste and hard fast pistes. A great week Very Happy Very Happy

Best wishes to Tim and I'm sorry we pushed you a bit too hard wink I hope a full & speedy recovery is made.

did they let on what they'd been told? wink

Glad it went well, cathy, I envy you that week. I'd like to do something like that during the season, but when I have a lift pass and accommodation here, already paid for, it's a lot extra to one of those sort of events.

Poor Tim! Sad

pam w, thanks. Yes, these weeks really are good and build on what I've been doing with Rob & Scott throughout the year. Amazing how they all pick on the same things wink It's also very good how, although different instructors with different teaching styles, they're all 'singing from the same BASI song book'. Shame you wouldn't be able to do a similar week, but quite understand why not!

I also meant to say that when we were down in Mottaret, the 'officials', together with the gendarmerie, were checking ski instructors credentials. First time I've seen that. We were with Craig Conkie, from BASS Meribel, at the time and he had to spend quite a bit of time with them, not just a matter of flashing your card and off.

cathy, Hurtle, sorry to hear that Tim had a fall, we had a lesson with him in Les Gets in December which we both enjoyed (well presuming it was the same Tim Jackson, he did say that he works in Courchevel from time to time Laughing ).

RandomSkier, helloooo! Very Happy Are you back in the UK now? You forgot to mention your rescue missions wink Laughing

Lou, yes, the same Tim Jackson - he's based in Les Gets and just drives down to Courchevel for the ItS week/s. He managed to drive back to Les Gets on the Friday and was expecting to get back on the slopes during this week - hopefully no major damage done. I thought his instruction was great Very Happy And it was a great week - there's a few of us now that go on this week and that's the only time really we meet up during the year. A lorra laughs Toofy Grin

skimottaret, Tim was very brutal with the video - first time of the playback it was on normal play and he just froze it on the start of each of my turns. I was wincing by the end Toofy Grin Enjoy the 3 Valleys! And I'm sure you're looking forward to getting back to Hemel Toofy Grin
