Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hello! Can I ask for some advice??

 Poster: A snowHead

I'm looking for a cheap skiing holiday...possibly solo or maybe not if I can get a long weekend.

Obviously I want EVERYTHING, but I skiied in Borovets last year and was quite content (still a beginner)

So, what websites do you reccomend? Just tried Inghams, Igluski and not much doing, any suggestions?

Gracias in advance

Probably early Feb, possibly March

Well, you'll not find many holidays anything like as cheap as Borovets. Second, you need to avoid mid Feb to Mid March if you decide on a French resort, because those are the school hols. Places are more crowded than usual and prices (e.g. of ski lessons) higher than usual.

One good place to look is action-outdoors.co.uk

e.g. this holiday, in Flaine, http://www.action-outdoors.co.uk/hol_flaine_UCPASkiFull-TimeInstruction_5-2-2011_0.aspx

UCPA are a good bet if you are on your own as you will never be short of company - a young, international, crowd.

The other option is to wait for a "last minute deal" though single supplements can be quite high. Most other options will cost a fair bit more than the UCPA option, given that that is full board and includes all your gear, ski passes and instruction.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thanks pam w, I had to google UCPA (the shame) Good tips on avoiding school holidays.

Maddington, Is the S7BB out of your price range? If your flying solo, it would be a guarantee of good company and the timescales are right for you. Details here: http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=67082

Schuss in Boots, the S7BB (I'm really not good with snowheads acronyms!) probably is out of my price range. As i understand it, the price is then plus travel & ski hire, lift passes etc???

Maddington, what is your budget, how cheap are you looking to go? Are you prepared to go by coach, take basic accommodation etc?

Prefer not to coach it. I was in Aviemore early December but figured that the time it takes to drive from Leeds I'm as well to fly somewhere. Ideally something around the £300 mark including some food/transfers - Not averse to a long weekend/not a full week - just need a ski holiday fix!

Maddington, Yes, that's right, those are extra costs (S7BB = Snowheads 7th Birthday Bash). Shame, would've been good to have you along. With your budget, it may be worth waiting for a last minute deal. Usually, the closer to departure, the cheaper it gets. I've picked up some good deals that way in the past. Since your time away is flexible, you should be able to pick up some bargains, just keep looking on a regular basis.

That's a very tight budget for a week for a single person. And you would need to add lunches, drinks out, ski pass, equipment hire, lessons. By which time you'd have paid for a week at UCPA. wink

Action Outdoors use coaches. It saves money. wink

Agree with Schuss that if you're looking for that cheap then a last minute deal is your best bet but be prepared to hold your nerve and wait until a few days before you go!

lastminute.com have some ace deals, just got Soll for £185 (inc flights, transfers and B&B accom). Lots of deals to france but likely to be more expensive out there.
Just hope our B&B isnt too far out, we've been lucky so far.
