Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Fresh snow falling in Grindelwald right now. Today was bright and sunny with a thin layer of good dry snow on the upper slopes Happy

Good evening fellow Wegenphiles.

Today was very sunny, with no wind. All lifts – and most pistes were open. For the most part, the pistes were hard, but they would take an edge. At the bottom of the main skiing area (ie the bottom of the Arven lift) it did soften up during the day – but it didn’t turn to porridge. I didn’t ski down to resort – but a skier who did said that it was a bit lumpy, and there were a few pebbles around – but it was OK.

Greetings, all.

Steady snow throughout the morning freshened up the pistes nicely. Light snow this afternoon followed by steady snow this evening. So, who knows, off-piste may be possible this afternoon. Al Copley is back at the Falken (yes, really). The apple fritters at Bradegg are as nice as ever – and the rosti there is not to be sneezed at, either.

Great news about Al being back at the Falken - he's really great on the piano isn't he? Very Happy Which hotel are you staying in this time?
I'll be there in March, can't wait (I've got the Birthday Bash before though Madeye-Smiley )

Chris Brookes, nothing decent since I went up the Jungfraujoch on Monday - light has been rather flat.

Thanks to more snow the pistes are in good condition everywhere - right down to Grindlewald. Off piste there is some powder in some locations - but at best only a few inches. You find yourself bottoming onto an icy base during the compression in a turn - and it's easy to discover icy lumps too.

It was still snowing gently as I walked back from Rocks tonight.

I'm not a skier, but it's been snowing consistently for the past three days or so. The town looked pretty awful on Tuesday but it's back to its snowy winter self now. I reckon we've had at least three or four inches of fresh stuff in town, so maybe even more up on the Mannlichen and elsewhere. It's snowing at the minute. Not heavily, but if I read the signs right, it looks as if it could be on for the day. I've posted a number of recent (and not so recent) pictures of Wengen, and some from the Inferno races on the either side of the Lauterbrunnen Valley, on Facebook, but I don't how to do the same here. Good evening dedicated Wengenites. More snow kept the pistes in good condition on Friday – if a little crisp in places. Off piste had often had rather thin cover on top of an icy base – but there has been some surprisingly good fun with quite deep powder in places. Examples: Beneath the chair to Eigergletscher – and, on the way home, Telegraph Fields.

Alastair Pink, I was staying at the Falken. Al is at the hotel for a limited time only, not the full season.

Pistes in lovely nick round Murren, Inferno mighty amusing yesterday (although Kanonenrohr vile) race went very smoothly, -6 as we left at 11h06

under a new name, I wondered how that would go. One of the competitors told me that in practice the Kanonenrohr was icy for his practice run.

Here's what Wengen looked like form the train yesterday morning:

Here's Kleine Scheidegg on Monday (ie before the latest run of snow). Picture taken from the Jungfraujoch:

achilles, the course was generally in excellent shape. The organisers did an unusually better than usual job all round. Even my least favourite section into mineshaft was straightforward and the turn into the woodcutters climb was smooth. But the Kanonrohr was just sheet ice, very very nasty. Mate concussed himself flipping over the lip.

Great race though.
