Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

ski length - is it measured the same way?

forgive me if this is a real silly question, but i have Icelenatic twin tips and measurement seems to be the length of the base, is this the same for all twin tips? Non-twins, are they measured the same or tip to tail in the straightest line as seems to be the case for my Fischer piste skis.

Skis are measured normally buy the full base (tip to tip) or a flat mould (when the ski is flat before it is pressed)

bitoffluff, no, not always straightest line - sometime with the tape flush to the ski - depends on the manufacturer

bitoffluff, My fischer misfits are 182, line prophet 90's 179, both twins, stand them next to each other and they are identical length. as Patch, states depends on manufacturer, K2 were measured oddly until recently, always had to add 3cm for true length?

Yeah.. K2 used to measure by running length of ski. Now they're measured tip to tail, much more sensible!
