Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

james.milne, Welcome to Snowheads. I skied some the same length in Tignes last year for a few days and thought they were great skis. I'm about the same height as you but weigh more. I skied them mainly on piste with one day off. I guess it depends where you are going to use them mainly. If you're going for lots of off piste some a bit longer may be better.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Hi Colin,

Thanks for the welcome and the advice.

I want the ski toi be a true all rounder so it will probably be 50/50 on and off piste, i reckon the good price might swing me to go for the 169's! As i understand it they are the same as the 2010/11 model apart form the graphics anyway, so the £200 saving makes sense i reckon!

Out of interest do you remember what type of binding you had, and if so whether they were mounted on a plate?

james.milne, I don't I'm afraid, they were rental bindings anyway. If I hadn't just got a pair of Icelantic Pilgrims at the time I would have got some Crusades, I really liked them.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Hi I am female and ski the Crusades. Absolutely love them, they ski like a shorter ski! I am 5' 4" and on 169cm. recommend you go up one size for youR height, as I tried the shorter 159 and felt very small!!! I work and teach in Switzerland and some of my fellow instructors also use Crusades and all are on 170 plus size!! They are great skis, short turns not a problem and incredibly stable at speed on any terrain. Mine are mounted with Rossignol Scratch Bindings.

For offpiste you probably want to go up a size, it take that long to get used to the extra length on piste either, especially if you're a good skier.

Cheers for the advice guys...........

Well i eneded up finding a stupid deal on a pair of 169's that i just couldn't say no to, i hope they aren't too short but i'll find out soon enough (The price i got them for i reckon i can sell them second hand and make my money back!) Can't wait to get them out to Chatel!!!!!

Just need to get a set of bindings, been looking at a set of Martker Giffon 12's. Any other suggestions?

Summer, i reckon if i still taught i'd use these, last time i was working i was on a set of K2 PE's 171 and i reckon they are a simular ski.

Thanks again.

james.milne, Crusade is a good "everyday" ski which will go anywhere. Performs well on-piste given the width, and pretty reasonable in most off-piste conditions - you should be pleased with 'em

james.milne, I'm the same weight as you and have the 179s - almost thought about the longer ones (189s?). They ski pretty short and 169 would be too small for me. Will be interesting to see what you think. They're a great ski BTW, most effective in heavy powder or crud, need to be gunned in the really soft stuff snowHead

Cheers guys, i will let you know how i get on with them!!

I am pretty confident that they will be ok considering my lack of height, but i will definitly push them hard and give an honest opinion.

Can't wait to get out on them now, its all i can think about now and i still have 5 weeks to wait still!!
