Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi all,

Im looking to spend a month or two anywhere in the alps (preferably 3 valleys) and was wondering if anyone had the same idea?!

I have to be in the uk for the first weekend of march, that is my only unavailable date. My original plan was to go out at the end of this month and come back for then, however, people on natives forum have informed me that it would be cheaper to go out in march and just stay till the end of the season, this seems appealing.

Does anyone have information on month long, or longer, accomadation? I dont plan on working, just staying till the money runs out/snow melts Smile
I will probably drive out.
Would anyone else be interested in joining me?!
Im a 21 year old male, got about 20 weeks exp in both europe and canada, i would say strong intermediate, will ski anything, happy to hike for good off piste, and want to learn park!

Basically I just want to ski!
If i do end up going in march, i will also be looking TO GO FOR A WEEKS SKKING TOWARDS THE END OF THIS MONTH (any groups out there)!
I am super flexible.

Any interest/ideas/advice would be appreciated,
Im basically someone who couldnt commit to a season, is now regretting it, but has savings that they are completely willing to blow on a couple of months in the snow:)

Rich, it will be cheaper to book something for the longer term than booking a "weekly let" property for 4 weeks.

I say this based on I know of properties for this season and are currrently sitting empty and the owners are prepared to do a deal to secure some income rather than go to the hassle of trying to market and set up the infrastructure for weekly lets now.

There are also other properties where the owner has sold March & APril and would hapilly take a booking for the rest of Jan and Feb at a very good price (some money is better than no money)

To give you an example; To rent something self catered for one person in Les Gets you're looking at paying c£250 per week so if you go for 8 weeks then the total cost is c£2000. There are currently about 15 weeks left of the season. I know of a studio on the piste in Les Gets that for the rest of the season (all 15 weeks of it) will only cost you c£2500 (so £166 per week) or £500 for 7 weeks skiing!

Wow! Thanks Guys.

Verbier sounds awesome, Im thinking the one downside to this would be the cost of living? Ive heard switzerland's the most expensive of places in the alps, and Verbier is quite a big name. Is this still the case or have prices evened out across the alps these days? Ive never actually been to switzerland.

@ Marcellus where would I find out about the kind of thing you are talking about? because its sounds pretty much ideal and what im looking for Smile

thanks again people[/b]

borntoski, U can´t say that Swiss is the most expensive for skiing, it depends where to go,, Ok St Morits, Davos, Gstaad is VERY expensive, bur there is alot more choice, in france val d isere, Val Thorens not are cheap, no they are expencive, and for to ski Verbier U can find places for lower price,

borntoski, that is a great deal for a place nr the centre of Verbier but your GBP2000 budget will be well short. You'd need to add circa GBP1000 for a season pass and another GBP1000 per month to live on - even at 50chf per day in Verbier you will be doing most of your own cooking and have to be careful with the boozing.

On the other hand if you've got the cash Verbier is one of the best resorts in the world for what you're looking for, has a long season and is full of loads of other Brit seasonnaires around to ski/socialise with.

Your biggest costs will be accommodation and liftpass. Food and drink is more expensive in Switzerland than in France but overall probably won't make a huge difference if you are budget conscious.

Verbier is VERY expensive. But 1500 GBP for 2 months is pretty good. But there is your budget gone just on rent. It might sleep two but that could be a double room. It costs you 5 or 6 quid a drink in Verbier.

Better to look at places down the valley at bit in Three Valleys like Bozel or Brides. Plenty of apartments for rent here in Bozel. Food and drink reasonable. Season pass would be 990 E for three valley pass or you can get the liberte pass which is linked to a bank account and you get a discount on lift pass prices and 2 or 3 days a month free if I remember rightly.

Hi There have you not thought of getting a cheap flight to Canada, usually get a room for a month for $450 or less/there abouts (I am in Rossland BC, Red Mountain) Ok you do need to factor in travel time (10 hr flight etc)
