Just got me a new super large roof box. Its about 6 foot 2 inches or 1.85m anyone know the max height on the french motorways for cars.

jbob, 1.85m is the maximum for the double deck carriages, anything higher has to be booked into the single deck carriages, so you look ok.

jbob, if in doubt, book on the tunnel as a high vehicle - costs no more. As cars with bikes on the roof are seen regularly on French motorways, I am certain there is no need to panic.

geepee, just measured it properly and its just shy of 2m. I seem to remember its no big deal and sometimes you even get off first.

i suppose it depends what car the box is stuck on top of but yes, usually just go onto the singe deck carriages when we use ours in the past. From memory the website just asks if you have a box or not so no need to panic

Just a bit lower than the 4 mangled bikes I saw on the roof of a French car a few of metres past the height warning bar before the pay booth.
