Poster: A snowHead

Greg Hill, a 35-year-old from Revelstoke (British Columbia) finished 2010 on a high, having broken the world record for vertical feet climbed and skied in a calendar year. His quest began on January 1st and came to fruition on December 30th, 2 million feet and some 266 ski days later. ...To put his achievement in perspective, 2 million vertical feet is roughly the equivalent of climbing Mount Everest 69 times and skiing back down again.

TBH this is easily beatable (if you can be arsed!) and certainly won't stand for long... skiers are topping over 22,000 meters per day in our local area.. do this for a season and you can beat it!

flangesax 22,000m skinning per day!!! How come we don't see these guys at the Pierra Menta or the Mezzalama or the PDG?? (3000 + m constitutes a big day in these)
For anyone interested a rough calculation shows that 2,000,000 vert feet equates to skinning 1600m per day every day of the year - man or machine???

Or 2289m of up on average for each of his 266 ski days...

flangesax, did get me thinking though - at 22,000m per day I'll have a year's supply of whatever they are having on their cornflakes

Heard about Greg Hill while i was in Fernie BC in 2005 so i've been following his exploits for a while. He's been speaking about hitting that target for a couple of years now, so happy for him that he's done it.
Great achievment for an amazing athlete. Check out his blog at greghill.ca .
