Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

sev112, getting in some extra competition training maybe (?) Schönfelder may be doing the same or testing out his rehab after an injury (if he's had one). The Austrian coaches sometimes send their racers to these local races to hone up the competitive edge.

Racers often race in the next couple of levels down for both these reasons. It also helps youngsters to face up to the big boys as well.

Pity it wasn't on TV. Judging by the number of first run DNFs, it would have been interesting to see the course.

sev112, he has been racing in the WC as well this year. As Samerberg Sue said, lots of the racers do FIS and EC races as well to keep up the competitive edge and to improve the FIS points, especially if they only do 1 or 2 disciplines.

maggi, Just spoke to TJ, who also raced with Noel, Dave & Jai for GB, and asked why there were so many DNF1's. He said that it was sheet ice glass with no grip even with razor sharp edges. The iciest race he'd ever skied in. Not many coped with it. Noel did really well to get a result, his best FIS points score since Feb 2006.

Plugboy, I know a lot of the Austrian lads who raced there and I was surprised to see so many DNFs, must have been tough.

As ever, funding is a struggle, with him having to spend a big chunk of his off-season raising money, with golf tourneys and even raffling his helmet space to local businesses. annoys me greatly that some of the bigger local businesses don't back him more (and his brother and cousin before him), when you consider that pretty much the entire economy of the area was built on skiing.

Yep, statistically that is Noel's 4th-best FIS result of his entire career. He is skiing well right now, as we saw in Val d'Isere WC where he only missed qualification by half a second. Shame he didn't get to go to Vancouver last year, but that is all water under the bridge now...
