Hi
I realise its middle of the year and supposedly summer like , but is there anywhere i can look to buy some new beginner snowboard gear , now im newly passed off as competent and fed up of using rather grim hire boots etc . All the online shops have very little stock of anything as im assuming they have cleared out all of there 04/05 stuff . Do you know when the next season 05/06 stuff will be released . Im currently searching ebay , which seems best at mo , although the choice is limited on that also ?
I was looking for a beginner board like the Burton Clash or the like , i thought they would common as muck , but alas not .
Any help appreciated , if im best to wait for next season stuff then so be it .
Cheers

Hi Alorko, and welcome to snowHeads, in general most of the new gear starts to appear in September in the UK though there might be some stuff out sooner at the snowdomes. If you give us a nearby city to you I'm sure someone will offer local sources

Alorko, there will be a lot of last seasons stuff left over, but it won't be the popular stuff (obviously!). To the best of my knowledge, most of the big chains don't keep much stock in at any one time, preferring to replace as they sell, from the wholesalers, so at the end of the season they don't have that much to sell off. The best place to get a bargain snowboard is to look in the classifieds in the back of Whitelines magazine, or Snowboard UK, for some of the specialist shops which take all this extra stock off the manufacturers hands at knock-down prices and then pass it on to enthusiasts.

eBay, even if your paying postage from states its still loads cheaper. If you dont like eBay search Google theres loads of places. Noahsark did my mate a good deal on a board.

Alorko, I got a board last October from Decathlon. They'd hidden all their stock over the summer and brought it out to sell off at the start of winter.

I can recommend Noah's Ark as well. I got a really good deal on a Da Kine back pack from them.

Alorko, Hi Alorko,
If you want to try an amazing new board company, try bataleon - see www.bataleon.com. Without going into too mcuh techy info, they are the first company to have a triple base that makes turning easier, catching an edge unintentionally almost a thing of the past and for once this is a product that actually delivers what it says. I have had so many boards that say this type of interwoven this and such and such, but this is genuinely a major leap in snowboard technology. see why onboard called it, "the biggest evolution in snowboarding since the twin tip". If you want any more info about them, snow and rock should be the the only place in the U.K to stock them, alternatively, they are in France, Italy and most of Europe. They are made in Austria and are well worth looking into. Something like "the hero" will do you from advanced beginner to advanced and pulling any tricks you want - most riders say, (and I can vouch for it) that they will give you an extra half spin - if you're pulling 360's, you'll be pulling 540's as they are so forgiving if you don't land 100% perfectly as the base in the middle of the board wants to "channel" the board down as opposed to the edge gripping and throwing you on the floor. If you are interested, contact me and I can point you in the right direction.
