Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi folks Razz Madeye-Smiley Razz

I am going to Niederau on the 15th of January and I can't wait. I have been there last year and loved the slopes there and in nearby Auffach.
Some people say that Niederau is limited to beginners and don't rate it high but I love the area and the slopes. They are not too crowded and you can hop on the bus to Auffach for more red runs if you are tired of the slopes in Niederau.
We are staying at the Schneeberger Hotel. Last year we stayed at the Harfenwirt which is right across the slopes.
I just can't wait to ski again. I must be hooked on skiing as I rather go skiing in the winter than go on holiday in the summer. Am I mad? Madeye-Smiley Madeye-Smiley Very Happy

Hi Very Happy Razz
The bus is regular and free if you are a skier or snowboarder. It takes about 20 minutes to Auffach from Niederau. It stops in Oberau too.

Hi Moonshine, I feel just the same as you, our first ski holiday was in Oberau, we spent 10 years going back to the hotel Tirolerhof. We have been in spring, summer and autumn as well. just love it! Five years ago we tried Murren in Switzerland and been converted slightly, better skiing, more snow sure but not quite as friendly as the Wildshoenau. I totally understand about the winter holiday thing, I too would give up my summer holiday if I was limited to just the one holiday per year.

moonshine, hope you have a great time in January - we went to Niederau for years and years with our family, daughter did a season there too, and still go back every few years, last year for a couple of days in early March and stayed at the Simmerlwirt. Met up with people we had first met over 20 years ago who till go back regularly.

Hi, I'm glad you like Niederau too. It's a fab little village, and everyone is so friendly - it's always good to go back. I'll be in Niederau the same week, and am going solo this year, so who knows, I may see you in the Gunther's sport cafe for a drink! Enjoy!

I'm staying at Pension Margit. I've never stayed there before, but it's got a couple of good reviews on trip adviser, so I'm sure it'll be fine. The temperatures seem to be rising from what I can see, so I'm hoping that that trend doesn't continue, and there's a bit more snow fall before we get there. I'll start doing my snow dance!

I am sure the pension Margit is going to be ok. Most places there seem nice and friendly in Niederau.

We are at the schneeberger hotel and have had some good reviews too.

I have been watching the weather too and I do hope that it will snow before we get there. I think it is ok at the moment and it looks good as usual on the webcams.

Hi Moonshine,

The Schneeberger is a lovely place to stay, and is close to the slopes. Will you be going to ski school at all? I think I'm going to book some lessons with the Red ski school. I'll let you know what the snow is like when I get there - I'll be arriving next thursday (13th) and am staying until 22nd.

Have fun, and please say hello if you see me - I'll be wearing my lovely new shiny white helmet Very Happy It's always good to meet other people who prefer the snow to a summer holiday!!

Got back from Niederau on Monday and conditions were excellent thanks to a mixture of natural snow, some artificial and good quality grooming. Niederau is a fab village, very friendly and great fun.

We will get to Niederau on Saturday afternoon. Yes it would be great if you can let us know what the conditions are like. I've got my fingers crossed that it will be okay.

We are not intending to have lessons. We see how it goes as we are just leisurly skiers!!! if that makes sense. Hopeing to go to Auffach to get some good red runs in too.
Have a good flight and I will look out for the shiny, white helmet. Smile

Nice to hear something positiv about Niedreau.

Im getting a bit worried about the conditions out there. Ive looked on the webcam and it is raining. We are flying out this Saturday for a week skiing. Keep fingers crossed for SNOW!!
