Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

French Driving Conditions

Hi all, does anyone have any information on the condition of the roads in France?

I've heard they've had a good snowfall this week and some of the major routes are effected let alone some of the more rural areas.

Driving down to Les Arcs on Christmas day and wondering if there is anything I should be aware of?

Thanks and merry Christmas to you all.

The approach road to Les Arcs from Bourg St Maurice is perfectly clear, although more snow might arrive at the weekend so make sure you have snowchains with you.

Hmm. Am at Troyes overnight, having driven down from Calais after significant (3 hours) delay at Eurotunnel. Absolutely no problem whatsoever with the roads - all completely clear, though very heavy rain the last hour or so. However, just watching the French news in the TV, there appears to have been significant new snowfall - and more forecast - in a swathe across the north of the country, where it's much colder, so it seems we just escaped. Lots of planes cancelled at Paris airports. HGV off the roads in the Ile de France.

So - the picture is patchy. There's a bit of fog too, though only one very short stretch where I had foglights on (spent the next hour being dazzled by all the dopes who keep them on in OK vis, of course).
