Poster: A snowHead

Looking for a pair of second hand skis, twin tip would be nice. Currently ski 70/30% on off piste, but as I get better would want to move to more off piste, up to 50/50. Wouldn't be adverse to trying some park every now and again, either!
I'm a fairly aggressive intermediate without being a nutjob, and quite weighty for my height at 13.5stone/85kg and 5ft 9/176cm.
ANy reccomendations of what I should be looking out for? Salomon 1080's, Line Prophet 90's keep coming up. Budget's tight, too! Up to £150. So snowheads, any recommendations (including length!) of what I could be looking for?
Cheers!

If you are looking for a bargain, I have got my last few pairs of skis from ebay.de they seem to be cheaper than ebay.co.uk. There's loads of good skis out there so you might be as well going by budget if it's tight. Lengthwise around 180cm +/-.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

joe1890, I was in a similar position to you, I'm 5'10, 83kg and recently purchased some 178 Scott Missions. They are 89mm underfoot and have raised tails (not as raised as twin tips). I currently do only a small amount of off-piste skiing, but really want to progress to maybe 60/40 off piste/ on piste. I have seem quite a few pairs floating around on eBay for around £180.

Yeah, I've had a look at some of the Scotts, too. Saw a pair of Aztecs that went today that looked nice as well. How are the raised tail rather than a proper twintip at riding switch though?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I've only skied the Missions at Hemel, so haven't managed to give them a proper working over, but from what I've heard, the raised tail handles riding switch very well. The tail is quite raised, I can't imagine you'll come accross too many problems.

Hiya! I've got a pair of Volkl Karmas that would prob be perfect for what you're looking for; They are 185cm, but ski shorter due to twin tip; Ask the forum if you want a review, but they are superb skis in pretty much any conditions. Im only selling as I've treated myself to a new pair of Mantras. They come with Tyrolia free-flex pro 14 bindings. Was gonna put them on here after xmas for circa £200, but could take a bit less if you can pick them up from London or Nottingham. Let me know if you're interested and i'll see if I can dig out some pics! Jon

+1 for that, in fact it's becoming common to see a bargain pair of bindings or skis sell for under £100 on ebay.de or ebay.fr, then within no time a very similar pair appears on ebay.co.uk at a significantly higher price; coincidence?

Possibly consider K2 Public Enemy or Extreme, and Scott Punisher too.
Try a wanted ad on here, if you say exactly what you want (and research/specify the lengths you want too) then I think you'll be more likely to get a positive response than saying 'what have you got'.
