Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski hire in St jean d'aulps.

Hi all,

We are considering where to hire skis for our first family hol to St Jean in Jan and have looked at a couple of websites, Skiset and Snowrental.
The Skiset site appears to allow you to pick a specific ski, and guarantees the availabilty of that model of ski in most cases, whereas on Snowrental you appear to simply reserve a pair of skis with no input regarding model. However Snowrental are significantly cheaper. (75euro compared to 120euro for a similar package). Is it better to pay the extra with Skiset knowing that you have pre-defined the ski you want?
Anyone have any experience of either of these, or indeed any other recommendations.

captaindarling13, I haven't hired for a few years but I always found that the list of skis they showed against any particular shop was pretty fictional. Perhaps things have changed. It depends more on the shop that skiset and snowrental use. For example I hired some skis in St Sorlin in 2006 and got some pretty poor skis, the next year in the same resort, through skiset again, but at a different shop the gear was much better.
