Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Airports etc and information

Just been listening to the news and the chaos that reigns again at airports. There are idiots ranting about how "something should be done", though what they think CAN be done evades me. It seems that the biggest issue and one that could be addressed is the lack of information. If people are kept informed of what is going on and why, they are far more likely to tolerate things peaceably.

In comparison I have to praise Trans-Pennine Express. Last Saturday we had a bad journey home from Manchester (4.5 hours instead of 2). It was not pleasant, but all the time we were kept fully informed as to why we were stopped and what they expected to happen and as a result nobody got cross. Instead, strangers started talking to each other and we all had a bit of a laugh. Had they just left us sitting wondering I think things might have been quite different.

Anyone know why places like airports seem to be so secretive about what's happening when there are mass delays/cancellations/closure?

LGW has a twitter feed which is being resularly updated - http://twitter.com/gatwick_airport

but it's interesting that a lot of the deicions are coming down to the airlines themselves

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?
