Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Maxtrek tyres any good? Have had quick look on net and based on fact they started in 2007 and based in China, they seem to be poo-poo. Problem being that these are the only snow tyres that I have managed to find in the right size (see http://www.snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=70725 Embarassed )

boabski, I just got some Kumho ones through mytyres.co.uk and I found that the stock they had available changed daily. Worth waiting a day or two? They were dispatched from Germany in the end so took a week to get here, but good price and customer service.

There are winter tyre reviews by the German/Dutch equivalent of the AA here: http://www.anwb.nl/auto/dagelijks-rijden/tests,/winterbanden/Test-winterbanden-2010.html

Click on "Resultaten winterbandentest 225/45 R 17" for the ones they tested nearest to your size. No sign of Maxtrek though.

The Nokian ones that skinutter, points out get good reviews

hi. For what its worth i have run Michelin Alpin A3's for 2 years (left them on all year round), wear has been minimal, fuel consumption no different, a little noisier than summer rubber, great grip in snow and slush, grips well in the wet, 70mph august motorway journeys did not seem to cause any problems.

A bit more expensive to buy than some others but its paid off for me.

got them at costco when they did 25% off 4
