Poster: A snowHead

I've got some used kid skis to sell. In the past I've sold them to other local race club members but if I did attract interest from someone too far away to meet for an exchange, any suggestions on how I ought to pack them? I don't currently have any kid ski sized cardboard boxes - apart from when I've just had some delivered, where would I get them from/can I buy stuff to make them? Probably a simple answer to this I haven't thought of...

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

slikedges, I use the pipe insulation foam, bubble wrap and a fair amount of parcel tape and I've never had any complaints when sending skis.

slikedges, Carpet gripper rods come in boxes ideal for skis, try your local flooring shop they may be pleased to giveaway the boxes rather than having to dispose of them.

I got skis delivered from Germany this time last year, they came in a cardboard box filled with shredded paper it was packet tight the skis couldn't move around.

Old card ski boxes, but you could try a Bubble Wrap layer over wrapped with heavy duty black Pallet Wrap. Should ship ok unless someone attacks it with a stanley knife.

Thanks guys - so if I can't get a box, the consensus is that lots of bubble wrap/pipe insulation foam wrapped in strong tape will be ok?

Take a decent sized 'cube type box' (exact size dependant on skis involved). open out top and bottom. split down seam in box. completly open out and you should have a rectangle of cardboard big enough to form into another long thin box if bent and fastened along the other axis to origonally.

Tie the brake levers up out of the way as they're easy damaged in transit & then tape the skis together with a bit of paper/card between the tips'n'tails so they don't rub.
