Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

New website for learning a language (for free)

I've discovered a new government website which allows you to learn to speak French, German, Spanish or Chinese (I assume it's Mandarin) for free.

It appears to be organised by the Department for Education, and helps you with basics or more advanced skills. I've been trying the French lessons when I get a chance, and I've found it quite helpful.

The language basics are set out in different sections such as Greetings, Names, Starting a conversation, etc. It then goes on to test you once you've "learned" the particular basics you're attempting, including letting you hear the pronunciation of the words.

It being a Coalition Government website, have you seen that it soon teaches you the following joke - in a language of your choice?
Q: Why did Nick Clegg cross the road?
A: Because six months ago he said that he wouldn't...... Toofy Grin

And a good place to practice language and meet locals is http://www.mylanguageexchange.com/

As English speakers, you should be able to find partners in just about any language. I used it successfully to help learn Georgian. And as an aside, after visiting Georgia (admittedly in the summer) don't even think of going there to ski - the snow must be abso-bloody-lutely fantastic, peaks go up to 5,000m, but the lifts are things I wouldn't be seen dead on. To be precise, death and their lifts appear intimately connected.
