Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi
Ive heard that it is possible to get a sleeper train to Aviemore from London. Would you have to get a hire car the other end or is there Hotels and ski lifts right there within walking distance, bus or short cab ride.
Is it any cheaper or is it easier to just drive up?

I am torn between the train to Aviemore or flying to Inverness and connecting to Aviemore using public transport. I want to stay in Aviemore and I understand that there is a regular bus to Cairngorm.

Price wise flying/train tickets would be comparable to driving myself, but without the added tiredness of driving that distance. Hope this helps a little.

adamtheyido, the skiing is about 12 miles from Aviemore station. There is a bus. There is a lot of detail in cathy's trip to Scotland thread in the snowEvents section of the board.
