One thing I've learnt... if it's not exactly what you want, don't buy it just because it's in your budget. Patience! I've had a couple of cheap ski jackets, which have been great, but never quite what I wanted. Then the other weekend I came across a superb bargain and exactly what I've been looking for... £300 worth of Salomon Sideways jacket for £120.

I got it through someone I met last weekend who had links with a Salomon rep. If you like the jacket, go for it... as I said, my previous mistake was buying jackets that I knew weren't what I really wanted.
