Spyderman and Kitty, Meshell, Mr and Mrs Phorn, Nells and WTFH altogether in a group of around 15. Rumour has it that they have supplies of wine and pizza, at the moment......................

WRS stating GVA to open at 10h00. Last nights snow was quite incredibly heavy, as heavy as I've ever seen it fall in the mountains. Swiss meteo saying 30 cms in Geneva generally. I reckon nearly 40cms in my garden.
Possibly the most snow I've seen here, at least from a single dump.
It's not snowing heavily now, so I guess they "just" have to clear the runway and the planes.

Annoyingly, it doesn't appear to have snowed that heavily in Chamonix.

Here in Geneva, absolutely chucking it down. Our 2pm BA flight now cancelled. Can't see Geneva re opening today.

Really? I drove from GVA to Grenoble last night, lots of cars grinding along at 20km/h however maybe the GVA direction hadn't been cleared. I didn't take the Liane though, drove through the backroads via lots of odd villages Viry, Maisonneuve: somewhere called Charly stood out. A bit of an adventure and on the backroads you couldn't drive more than 50km/h.

davidof, Annecy was gridlocked and when we did hit the motorway junction to Geneva at about 7.30/8pm it was closed due to a multi vehicle pile up. We had to find another was to Geneva. Took up 5 hours from Tignes to Geneva.

aieee, yes I can imagine Annecy was a horror, the Rhone-Alpins don't tend to bother with snow tires or road worth vehicles either. 5 hours isn't bad to be honest in the conditions.
