Hi saw a link to these skis in another thread and I am kind of tempted to give them a go.
Has anyone on these forums skied them or better got a pair? what are your thoughts? and does anyone know if they are available for hire demo in Europe.
Lastly do you ski these with poles? I am guessing as people may at first glance think you are on blades that might be a no, but wasn't sure
Thanks

why?
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Was a while back and I think they have been further developed since then ....
Someone else who has also tried them said they enabled you to ski really bad offpiste conditions (e.g. breakable crust with a sheet of ice on top). An alternative tool to use when the conditions aren't good to ski.

Too long to write. I just wanted a "face palm" smilie.
snowHeads are a friendly bunch.

Thinking of getting some too, stick some Dukes on 'em.... ideal AT set -up. Won't need harscheisen, 'cos the Rax has already got some built in
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

If there was one time you needed a big fish to slap someone in the face with, this is it.
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Have I been sucked in by the marketing video? It looked they were skiing some fairly nasty snow and dare I say enjoying it using this emote as tongue in cheek.
I searched the forum for other rax threads before posting - obviously in a failed attempt to prevent mass mockery, I am presently awaiting a forceful blow from a wet haddock.
I guess everyone assumes you on blades and spits as you go past - that said, would you prefer to be on these rather than blades? seem about the same price and obviously as a I would never be seen on blades.
I am also weighing up the merits of the apres discussion when I can tell people how helpful I am being effectively grooming the slopes for them
You know it makes sense.

Did Tom fom Austria ever start up a production line of making skis that, from the start, were intended to be Rax skis or if you buy a set is it still an after-market mod on an existing pair of skis which is what they always appeared to be?
Otherwise you'll just go on seeing the one name:

I saw some Rax skis in January, but it's taken a little while to track down these weird half-a-ski's
Has anyone tried these out? - the last post was in 2010 In reply to that, there is a website at http://www.raxski.com/index.php/en

hmm, good to see they're bang up to date with ski development

Juts had a look on Tom's site. Wow a couple of my comments from my review on the Rax skis are on the main page. Fame at last, who want's an autograph
This could almost do with being posted on the collision thread, as there are numerous near misses...and I love the lingering shot of the helicopter (perhaps an unfortunate being carted off after his previous run!)
