Dear snowheads,
Where is the cheapest, most easily accessible from airportest, snowiest, openiest resort in the Alps for this weekend? We've got a last minute option to fly to Geneva, Zurich, Munich or Milan on Friday, but have to be back on Sunday evening. So where is best?
Options currently under consideration:
-Zermatt
-Val d'Isere
-Hintertux
-Chamonix
-Other?
All will be pretty expensive and it would be great to minimize airport transfers/car hire + driving time.

you could also consider oslo - it's fecking freezing out there at the moment, and the local hill is open too. see here for info in norwegian (the english bit doesn't give you much info) but the page can be translated into english.

Engleberg, Andermatt, flims\laax and a number of other swiss resorts are open - though pretty limited to a couple of lifts and runs..
Solden would be a good choice, though not sure on the transfer times from munich..though they are around 3 hours by car from Zurich in good conditins

Cheers everyone - Laax appeals because I've never been before, but I cannot get the number of open lifts/runs from the website. It just brings up the entire piste map which I'm sure is not right. Is there a different website or link with this info? Otherwise Sölden or 'tux are looking good. Does anyone have info on Chamonix or Val d'Isere? - both claim to be opening on Saturday but again there is limited information about which lifts/runs will open...
