Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I believe the original Tauplitzalm Bergbahn 1SB from Tauplitz village to Tauplitzalm used to be the longest, would imagine its been surpassed now though!

There's a long, slow chair between Villars and Les Diablerets, which is very long and very, very slow.

Mind you, it gave me plenty of opportunity to enjoy the sight of the Chamois frollicking in the mountains.

Whitters, lovely ride that - comfy padded chairs.

Longest drag must be the T-bar back from Zermatt to Cervinia - longest and coldest.

I thought the longest drag lift (Europe?) used to be the one off the top of the Carosello (Livigno) that brought you back from inside the Swiss border, when you ski down the back of the mountain through the valley (the opposite side of the village)

If my memory serves me well it's about 35 - 40 mins long.

PAIN.

The drag to get back to La Thuile from La Rosiere is very long indeed, although it does split halfway. Still a complete ballache though.

The gondola from Brides Les Bains must also be a contender?

red 27, haha I'd echo the Zermatt to Cervinia one. White out day - you see your last tram leaving... b*gger. Will the mist *ever* clear? Will you *ever* reach Italy? Do you have your credit card for a hotel in Zermatt if need's be? Dare you have a feel around for the aforementioned creditcard or will you fall off the lift and have to pass Go, do not collect 200 CHF? Wink

try doing it when its freezing and you're a boarder that really doesn't do drag lifts (well at that time). I managed to rip.the tbar of the pole and then went back for another go. In the end had to.have a mate riding fakie with me so I could get to the top!

I'll suggest the Aiguille du Midi as longest and greatest ascent cable car - albeit in 2 stages.

Vertical 1,035m - 3,842m (i.e. 2807m)

bitoffluff, iirc whistler is the longest single span

At 4 miles long, the longest gondola lift in the world is the Millenium Express in Nassfeld. Has 2 mid stations but you can go bottom to top without changing lift.
