Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

off piste ski weekend tuition

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi,

We are four good piste skiers who have had some off piste experience but we want to take it to the next level. We have a limited time window so wondering if anyone can recommend some ideas.

We are thinking Verbier on 23rd or 24th Feb for four nights...are there any organised courses that anyone knows off or has been on? It doesn't have to be verbier but we would be flying into Geneva and have been to Chamonix a lot of times previously.

Many Thanks
Mr Ted

Go anywhere with decent offpiste and book an instructor who also has the guide qualification?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

There was a thread on here last winter from a guy looking to organise training in Avoriaz - he had booked the course but wanted a few more snowHead to help share the cost, so there must be a school there.

edit: This was the post:

mr ted,
23rd/24th feb is in middle of schools half term week so might be difficult to get accommodation for 4 nights then

Usually no problem if you are prepared to stay in a valley town and drive 20 mins or so to the lifts. Not too serious a disadvantage IMO - and cheaper as well.

Agreed.

There's a decent, very good value Ibis hotel in Sallanches and from there it's a 20 minute drive to Combloux, Megeve or Les Houches or about half an hour to Chamonix.

Depending on arrival/departure times you could ski at Crozet, 20 minutes drive from the airport. It's a nice little ski area, with cheap lift tickets, a good mix of runs and some great views of Lake Geneva, the city and Mont Blanc. We've been there a couple of times and been on the lift 75 minutes after touching down in Geneva. wink

It's worth going for a couple of hours if you can squeeze it in.

Thanks for all your ideas guys. Unfortunately limited to that date, but we normally book acomodation for the whole week and only use it for the four days. Saves us paying the normal premium for shorter stays.
