Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Snowworld - Landgraaf, Holland

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Recently had a boys weekend/road trip to Snowworld in Landgraaf (Holland) and thought I would share with you all what was good and bad. We set off from my house outside Bristol at 7:30 Saturday morning and caught the 11:50 channel tunnel to Calais (£58 per car!!) and headed towards the German border town of Aachen - arrived at about 17:00 local time. Headed out into Aachen and enjoyed a few steins and some great food before hitting the sack at about 00:00. Up at 9:00 Sunday mornin and made our way to Snowworld which is about a 20 min car ride away into Holland. Snowworld is bloody massive!!!......makes our fridges look pathetic in comparison!! I will now list the good and bad:

Good Points
Only 43 euro for 4 hours lift pass (inc ski hire)
Very modern facilities
very freindly staff
520m of slope!
Ski Lodge style bar half way down
very good lift system

Bad Points
Longest ski available for hire was 168cm....I am well over 6 foot!
Patches of ice and foot deep powder on both slopes made things a little hairy!!
The odd 5 min queue for a lift

So all in all its a great place to have a weekend or depending where you live in the uk and how heavy your right foot is, maybe a day trip!!

The hotel is connected to the main dome and looks of a good standard.

Thanks.
It is a pity there is nothing this size in UK. Big and relatively cheap.

Tom W, exactly, just goes to show how seriously we take skiing (in in some cases sport as a whole) in the uk!! Holland isnt exactly known for its world cup skiers yet they have this amazing facility and another smaller one elsewhere!!

This country!!!....... rolling eyes rolling eyes rolling eyes

They have more than just one smaller one elsewhere. Zoetermeer and the Hague are 2 I know of (used to live within 10mins or so of both, and never went to either).

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

This video contains content from Sony Music Entertainment. It is not available in your country.

Grrr! why do so many people insist on putting copyright music in their vids? I get that for about half the youtube links these days. Time to get the proxy running again, which should have the side effect of giving me iplayer etc..

edit: tor/foxyproxy duly installed. looks like quite a sizable slope. oh and iplayer works from outside UK too Wink

If anyone's over right now there is actually a 29 euro deal which includes the 4 hour piste entrance PLUS buffet BBQ or rib-eye steak! http://www.snowworld.com/477/Maandactie

The second weekend of October everything's free I think, demos, displays, second hand sale etc., etc.

If you're looking for accommodation you can get great deals at the snowworld hotel - e.g. 49 euros pppn incl. breakfast and piste entrance. Very Happy

Anyone been to both Landgraaf and Bottrop indoor slopes? One claims to be largest, the other claims to be longest. Both are about 2hr30 from here and about 1.5hours away from each other. Getting too close to winter now, so I'll save the journey for one to real mountains, but might be a laugh to do both in one week end in the summer or something.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Landgraaf is the largest indoor in the world. Dubai claims to be "bigger" but actually is wider, not longer.
