Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Boot fitting question....

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Having just spent some 3 hours with a beginner friend in Ellis Brigham, I was after a bit of advice.

Fitter did all the correct things, foot measured, looked at shape of foot both standing and flexing, tried on a number of makes, plumped for a Head boot as my friend has a very wide foot, with high instep.

He also tried Atomic LiveFit 80, and a Salomon who's name I forget.

We then got a 27.5 and a 28 Edge+ 10.5 and Edge+ Ltd

27.5 length is spot on using the shell test, however his forefoot almost touch the shells just behind his toes with no liner in, hence causing pain when liner is in. Fitter believes he could widen the boot to accomodate but was concerned about how much he may need to widen.

Fitter admitted that the 28 was perhaps a touch too long, but the extra width is a lot more comfortable, would still need some blowing out but not as much.

He is going to be having a series of lessons at XScape, so buying from ellis brigham next door means he can pop in for any adjustments etc etc

So 27 or 28, or do we go somewhere else and try a different make to the 3 already tried?

Regards,

Greg

 Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

If I was forced to choose, I'd go 27 and have the mods done.

What about other makes in store?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Mosha Marc, other makes were much less comfortable than the Head, Salomon foot/toe shape is nothing like his foot and the Atomic caused pain in one area at bottom of shin within 5 mins of wearing...

Don't try on Ski boots before you buy, simple. Let the fitter choose, modify and fit.
