Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

i love it, there is one in the portes du soleil, maybe in Champoussin but it is probably the lowest of all the lifts there which is very odd. You would have thought they would be located high where its windy and colder. Obviously i dont think that every lift should have these, but the long ones where its that cold nobody speaks and you are nearly frozen solid by the summit should have them.

I challenge him not to change his mind after sitting on Inversens (La Plagne) stop-start it's way up the hill for 20 minutes on a day where it was minus 20 before windchill - and blowing a gale.

It very nearly ruined my day trip over there.

I think I'm a bit claustrophobic/scared of heights - used to be a lot - chairlifts were my saving grace. I LOVE being in chairlifts, it's all about the fresh air and the amazing twinkle of the snow.

I was surprised by the standard of the lift facilities of some of the most exclusive American resorts this March. In Vail and Aspen Mountains the luxury chairlifts could be timber battens covered with a removable cushion. Many chairlifts have no foot rest. No wonder they get excited to find something shielding the weather and warming their bums.

Despite the lift facilities from the bottom league they charge premium rates for the ski passes though. By the European standard their resort owners have got away with murder!

No hot chocolate machine? I'm distinctly unimpressed!

I have to agree with the article though. Would much rather be experiencing everything first hand.

Some lifts do not have safety bars and people sometimes ride them without bringing the bar down. They argue that is actually safer as people are aware of the dangers and thus sit back and concentrate during the ride.

They argue that a safety bar gives a false sense of security as it is often possible for a child to slide under it.

saikee, if you mean US hills haven't crammed yet every last square meter of piste full of skiers by putting express 6-packs by the side of every blue run - you are right.

US/Canadian Resorts vary - some have foot rests on nearly everything - and certainly all the detachables. Others only the express lifts.

And the first bubble protected express chair I ever rode, I believe, was in Vail 20 years ago.

Me - I prefer to ride up a bit slower sometimes if it allows me more room on the slopes Toofy Grin
