Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Mont Ventoux

The season is finally getting started in the Southern Alps (no not Australia but France!) with the first big dumps of the season. The ski resort of Mont Ventoux has finally been able to open some runs if you are in the area:-

They are claiming 80cm snow depth

Coincidence! Was talking to a friend there just before he went up this morning.... he reckoned 70cms by 8am. They've had a bad season - only a couple of the lower slopes open for a few weeks so far, those really steep blacks and reds from the Crêtes have been inaccessible this year (and last), so today is the first time these runs have opened in two years. South of France, Provence, mid-April of all times. The weather just doesn't make sense any more!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Our satellite TV has gone off due to the weight of snow on the dish and antenna thingy but the big worry are the trees, because it is spring they've started growing leaves and are now weighed down by very heavy snow.

Congrats to Mont Ventoux and their flexibility to open when the conditions are right.

Apparently all hell broke out yesterday when the decision was taken to open... everything had been mothballed until next season. Still I have a hard job imagining anyone down there rushing to do anything wink
