When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I need to re-proof loads of clothing.

Thinking i getting techwash and tx-direct.

I know tx-direct is good on tnf hyvent and similar pu coatings, but i also have an eider ski jacket, with 2l defender outer and its fairly thick and quilted inside, what do i need to use to re-proof this? Will tx be ok?

Their website ( see http://www.nikwax.co.uk ) has lots of usage info. On the front page there is (in dark blue) a section about what Nikwax product to use for what purpose. That section also says "If you have not found a suitable product, please call [them]".

How can I restore my garment's water repellency?
You can totally restore a GORE™ product's durable water repellency (DWR) by using a topical DWR treatment product for outdoor fabrics, available at outdoor retail stores. (Note: We do not recommend wash-in treatments.) These special treatments help maintain and restore the DWR on the outer shell fabric of the product so that it remains water and stain repellent. Anyone can properly maintain the DWR on a GORE™ product.

When water no longer beads on your garment's outer fabric, simply apply a topical DWR treatment product according to its directions.

The most effective way to maintain your Gore garment's water and stain repellency is to wash it, rinse it, and put it in your dryer. Keep it clean!

What's the best way to clean my GORE-TEX® garment?
There's no mystery here. Just toss your GORE-TEX® garment in the washing machine in warm (104° F/40° C) water. Use powder or liquid detergent, but skip the fabric softener and chlorine bleach, please. Then tumble-dry on a normal warm setting and you're ready to go. That's it. Be sure to read the manufacturer's care tag in your garment for specific instructions. See our Care Center for more information.
