Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

The question - ski train, truck-it or fly

Off to Ste Foy again this year and we have trucked it for the past 2 years - over night ferry, evening in BSM, extra day on the slopes then a race back to ferry port at end of week. This year I'm wondering if better to train it - 79 quid, brain in neutral and a taxi to Foy, still get extra day - in fact 2 extra days.....all good me thinks.
I do like the trucking and part of holiday but think 79squid, bottle of red and sleep and you'e there seems pretty good as well!
What does everyone thiink??

If the timings work well for you with the train I'd say do it, I find it actually feels like the holiday starts as soon as you get on the train wheras driving is a lot of effort

rob@rar, have a play with the Rail Europe site. Looks like Saturday to Saturday bookings traveling during the day are coming in round the 80 quid mark each way. Looks like the direct train.

gorilla, I booked the direct Eurostar route to BSM (via the Eurostar website) the day they were released to the public. Cost £219 return. Just checked on the RailEurope website and it's showing the same price (for end of January departure date).

rob@rar, interesting. I just did a mock booking on the RE site and got £169 for Sat 22nd Jan coming back Sat 29th. I would guess it gets more expensive the closer you get to February.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Now everyone is making me question my web skills - here is what I was looking at on eurostar web site:

Inbound - Saturday 12th February 2011
22:15 - Bourg St Maurice 07:16 - London St Pancras 10h01m
(duration) Standard
Non flexible £447.00
Total price for all passengers (average price per person - £149.00 Fare Breakdown)
For all credit card purchases over £30.00 there is an additional fee of £3, but you can avoid it by paying with a debit card. £894.00

I can ski on the Saturday of arrival and departure so 8 days skiing!
Fogliettaz, I see your apartment is free that week - what are prices and from looks of pics its above the ski shop on the decking...yes? I'd be interested.

flog873347, I'd rather drive than suffer an overnight train journey in an upright seat, no matter how much the saving. Laughing

Boredsurfing, having done, it me 2. But travelling by TGV by day, or night sleeper, is another matter.

Boredsurfing, I agree. If I'm going to sit up all night I'll go by coach at a fraction of the price and get delivered to the door of my accommodation (done that a few times - also done lying down sleeper to Aime, which was fine, with very cheap public bus up to La Plagne).
