Poster: A snowHead

G'Day all,
I am planning on purchasing my first pair of skis in the not so distant future and are currently tossing up between the Salomon ten-eighty and the Rossignol Scratch FS. I myself ski blacks and dont have too much of a problem with them, i am 180cm tall and am a bit of a light weight weighing in at around 65-70ish. I want to be able to ski all over the mountain and also be able to have a little fun, hence the twin tips. Has anyone got any advice regarding these skis and how they handle??????
Thanks for your time.

wofftech,
I had 1080s for several years, they are a very good allround ski. Incidently I also really liked the scratch FS, so it was a bit of a toss up between them. Now however I find them a bit too soft as I ski quite agressively, so have replaced them with Volkl Karmas which are great but pretty stiff so I suspect as a first ski not much good for you. The new 1080 (foil) is supposed to be a bit stiffer and has more shape so has the potential to also be a great ski, might be worth taking a look at it.
I think twin tips are a great idea, they make it much easier to scramble and jiggle your way out of tight spots.

I do tend to also ride kinda hard and fast with my skis and unfortunately im not really able to demo them. Where i live there isnt exactly a ski industry seeing that i am in the tropics, so i have had to resort to purchase them from a warehouse further down south.

I Have skied the 1080s & the Scratches and they are not a patch on the Dynastar Trouble Makers. The TMs have got so much life in them compared.
If you want them stiffer then go with one of the pro models. The Dave Chrichton Pro is comming out plus the 3 Phils have pro models.
I have had two pairs of 1080s and demos the scratches a few times but I will be sticking with dynastar from now on. Check out thier new fat twin, the Big Troble. It looks awsome!
Take it easy
Mitch

I can not compare the two as I have never tried the Rossi - however I bought some 1080s this season and couldnt be more pleased - albeit I am no expert in these matters.
