Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

just noticed that when I typed Iglu, after clicking submit, it automatically added a link to them (with a siteref ID in the url, as if its some kind of advertising deal)

Does Igluski own snowheads or have some kind of arrangement to pay commission on sales, eg if a holiday buyer clicks over there from here?
Does snowheads auto-add a link to other ski holiday providers? maybe some kind of commission sharing or pay per click thing?

Seems like a really clever idea... but there's prob lots of clever net marketing hook-ups which I need to learn about...

Admin set up a referrer deal with Iglu some years ago, so that should a referral from here result in a booking he might get some commision. They don't do them anymore I think

skiholidays, the auto link is a snowheads thing, not an iglu thing. Works for eurostar and the eosb too Smile

edit: oooh, the eurostar thing has stopped working!

edit2: it's partially working as I typed eurostar in lowercase, it's being turned into uppercase but not a link

skiholidays, it's not that it looks too professional, it's that it looks like the website is part of another company. If I'd just been browsing the Crystal and First Choice websites, and found everything was repeating itself, I wouldn't be optimistic about finding anything different on yours. The content of the search boxes is good, but I think you need to change the style of them considerably.

harrisontherabbit, good point - will have a think about it - hoping to get onto search modules next week

snowsteve, thanks - your links are up!

starting to get the resort info pages linked up eg www.sno.travel/ski-resort/chamonix/
(can admin leave link in place for a bit, then break it later, after we've had a look and expressed opinions?)

left menu works (except for the holiday & accom links) so you can see the pages where we promote local ski biz (eventually each biz will have their own page too)
uploading all proper pics for each resort will take a few weeks, but example pics give you the gist...
loads of design and usability tweaks needed, but that will have to come slowly over next month or so

just ran out of coffee - off to the shops...

harrisontherabbit, everyone canvassed here agrees with you - too close to TUI search panel - will make a plan!

We're trying to get some kind of design for the homepage now - I've been photo chopping an image that used to read "snow" in the snow and its kind of ok... I think...
... opinions? www.SNO.travel

on a different subject, does anyone from snow-finders hang out here?
I got a link exchange request from them, then had a quick look and noticed their entire links page seems to be no-follow! prob just a daft act of IT firm from a few years ago (when page rank "sculpting" was all the rage" but, from what I've read, it really doesn't help you at all anymore with Google... and makes your link-partners think you're trying to trick them! I'm sure they'd like to know about it (but they were on hols when I phoned)... anyone?

Just in case anybody else out there is "reciprocally" linking to any of the 'Sno' series of websites might be worth checking if you still have your link(s) back from them. Ours have all mysteriously vanished! Evil or Very Mad

Quick question - given that you aren't a charity and aim to make profit from this site, you are doing exactly what the BBC does in getting " free" content without payment and probably with odious terms and conditions.

we're just finishing a massive global ski resort guide for our new ski holidays website and have realised that buying pictures will cost hundreds of squids...

While snow Snowheads may be happy to provide you with free content, don't you think you should bl**dy well pay for images?
