Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Summer in Les Deux Alpes (& Epernay) with links to pics

In summary

We had a superb week in the Alps. We stayed overnight Thurs 25th June in the Holiday Inn Express at Folkestone - good value for its location at £59 B&B for two of us. We took the packed breakfast and got an early shuttle and got to LDA early evening.

I skied straight away Saturday morning with Easiski and then got my skis waxed/edged during the afternoon - on Sunday I really noticed a difference in them. On Monday the long awaited lesson for Mr B took place. Being summer he had to have it at altitude (at the top of the funicular) and he didn't get on very well with that, finding breathing difficult. He had also, for some reason, walked down to Venosc on Sunday while I was skiing which did for his leg muscles. However the skiing went well - he had a naturally good stance, just a real pity he simply isn't interested in doing more rolling eyes.

Tuesday was a day off of skiing. Instead we took a drive over to Claviere, just over the Italian border. It's a lovely drive. I then skied Weds, Thurs & Friday mornings, and in the afternoons we either went walking or took the car exploring - we visited Alpe d'Huez, Auris, the back road down from LDA, Cuculet and La Moliere.

I am pleased that my skiing confidence & therefore skill continues to improve, albeit slowly. Lots of work at home has now given me a reasonable degree of ankle flex and I was able this time to start making use of it on skis for the first time & I have to say it felt strange but good. Memorable moments?

- Skiing down to 2600 taking in the steeper, narrow section of the Jandri that you come to if you go round the side of the restaurant furthest from the Jandri Express far more confidently than last time
& coping with yucky conditions further down (face planting at one point!),

- playing on rollers at the bottom of the snowpark,

- getting on first-name terms with T-bars and

- finishing the week skiing the side of the Dome.

The second week we spent in the tent on the Municipal campsite at Epernay. I'd recommend the site inexpensive, riverside cycle paths with cheap bike hire (5 Eu for half a day), large hedged pitches, clean facilities and a lovely area to visit too. We happened across the Henri IV festival in Ay too with its grand parade.

I was in LDA the other week and really enjoyed it. Great vibe.

Whereabouts is the swimming lake? Probably would have paid a visit.

bad_roo, it's right near the entrance to the resort, very close to the top of the chairlift up from Mont de Lans.
