Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski repair / preservation

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I just bought a pair of secondhand skis on Ebay (Icelantic Scout Very Happy ).
The tips have been bashed together a bit with the result the edge of the topsheet has some minor (and not-so-minor) gouges round the tips. (I do the same thing with my missions, so I expect to carry on where the previous owner left off!)
Can anyone recommend some sort of protective coating to apply? I'm worried about moisture getting in and freezing and maybe starting some delamination.

jonno, agree with altis, little blobs of araldite on the offending areas, leave it to go hard (at least a day or so. Then carefully sand to shape with some small bits of fine sandpaper / wet and dry. I use masking tape /duct tape so i don't scratch the top sheet if you are being picky/ or its a shiny top sheet.

but make sure it is decent flexible araldite, the cheap (or not so cheap) stuff from B&Q may split or crack as the ski is flexed... sure Jon will be along soon to tell you the part number of the right stuff to use, i have some but can't remember the model

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Phew! When you said very expensive I thought you were using a bit of poetic license... 30GBP for 2x100 ml tubes of 2011 (and that's cheaper than 2012)! Shocked

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much
