Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Vallée Blanche - Grand Envers

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
A combination of a snowy May, inlaws in town and a wife champing at the bit for skiing led us to Chamonix hoping for enough visibility to do a Valléee Blanche....

The girls still excited at the mid station...

No more fixed ropes at thze top so we got to ski the Arête

Nice soft powder snow although best not to fall here...

Chris on the Arête

The Mont Tacul face with the Cosmiques Refuge on the right. This is the start of the ski route to the summit of Mont Blanc

A couple of tracks on the Petit Envers

The "bise" had put a layer of windslab on some of the pitches

Which Chris tried to bury his photographer with...

Into the mist...

Nice untrackeded snow on the lower section

Rock hopping

Dodging the avi debris at the bottom

Sporting!

Some ice climbing practice on the Mer de Glace...

The route out Via Ferata style

We stuck to the "piste"

A bit tricky getting out under the ice caves

Our guide

A celebratory beer

Another fun day in Chamonix. A bit spooky navigating in the mist but rare to get the VB with only a handful of people on the mountain!

BobinCH, much better, looked like you were leaning into the hill in the first version. Twisted Evil

Looks like a fab trip. May I,

1. have a wee shot on your wife's skis next season?

&

2. humbly request that we try and organise a wee ski?

BobinCH, tilting the cmaera to make it look mellower than it is? I've taught you well. Hoodie and oversized sunglasses? definitely a boarder.

Millsy took the photo - probably trying to convince herself that it wasn't very steep.

His piggy bank quite clearly states "For first pair of skis". If he wants a board he's on his own!

ps trust you'll be coming back for the 2nd half of the season. Seems you left a bit prematurely!
