Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Gainz, you did start it, actually. And to pretend you don't understand why people have reacted is either disingenuous or stupid. No need to be such a hater.

stoatsbrother, start what?

I asked a question and have taken in the answers. welove2ski made some valid points which have made me re-evaluate freestyle skiing. That was the purpose. As for the rest of the comments, well it IS just like a school playground. The unpopular kid gets bullied because he (or she) has different views. Then there's people like you who stand and watch it all and throw in a last minute kick in the guts!

I now know what really is pathetic...

Gainz, mate - if you can be arsed to look further up your own thread you will see I stated my views pretty early on.

If you start by characterising an entire sporting area as "pathetic" - and something that must be left to boarders - don't be surprised that people point out you are a twit.

I usually use the Rag as a pied-a-terre, but sometimes I like to relax at the Hurlingham or Leander at the weekends. I box where I live, in Durham.

Not quite sure what relevance that has to freestyle skiing ... not that I'd know much about that new-skool (sic) type of thing anyway, being a telemarker myself. All I can say is each to their own and ars per artis.

For what it is worth - I am a mad-keen boarder. I love back-country, on-piste, jibbing: all of it..... doing it that is....
I have a load of snowboarding movies and I love watching them again from jibbing to AK lines I love it all.

However, no matter how much I've tried to enjoy it, I just don't think that competition translates very well to film. A prime example is the Olympic Half Pipe: I watched it, Shaun White threw down what was hailed as the greatest half pipe run ever..... I found it boring. Same with slopestyle competitions and boarder-cross. Yawn! It just doesn't excite me to watch it and I think it has a lot to do with the way it is filmed. The same is true of Freestlye Skiing competitions, i just find it boring to watch - I have no doubt that these guys have immense skill and I'm sure if I was able to do it myself or even just see it in real life it would be amazing, but for me it just doesn't translate well onto film. That being said, some of the Teton Gravity Research stuff, which is largely skiing, is amazing.

So... I guess what I am saying is that it may be the way its presented that is turning you off rather than the sport itself.

Oh, and what is more pathetic than freestyle skiing: Snow blading? Twisted Evil

I know exactly what you mean, frankly I find freestyle boring to watch in whatever form - skiing/boarding/kayaking... I always skip the freestyle segments in Claim etc.

Loving the snowblades comment too Twisted Evil
