Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hardly a bargain but after being told the graphics on my skis were unnaceptable in polite company. I was told to go and get myself another pair.
After being assured by the man in the shop that Salomon Tornadoes were the dogs doo das I bought a pair with 20% off. Still quite a pricey ski though.

Got a great deal from the Freeze Pro shop in Edinburgh -a pair of 4FRNT MSP skis - these are an all mountain /freeride ski- 96 underfoot. Ordered them on line over the Easter holiday and they arrived by courier on the Wednesday after Easter Monday. These ski's retail at £669 with Marker M12 bindings - I paid £385 in their end of season sale. Tested them out in Ischgl,Samnaun and Galtur last week and I am very pleased with my purchase. Skied well in a variety of conditions -from nice spring snow, powder, crud and slush on the lower mountain just above Ischgl. We also experienced some early morning hardpack on the pistes above Ischgl and this is the area were I knew they might be a bit of a handful -all I can say is that you have to put some effort in and ski them hard and they reward you -at the end of the week once I was fully used to them they actually carve quite well for this type of ski. But for all the other conditions they were superb. Had to bring them all the way back from Austria by coach and ferry- but that is another story.
Freeze Pro are a great shop to deal with and are staffed by very helpful and friendly staff who know their stuff.

Not ski related - but I just got a brand new 86th edition (about 3-4 years old) CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics from Amazon for £20 inc postage.

However, I sure can't find my other bible Hawley's Condensed Chemical Dictionary for similar cash unless its a 10-15 year old copy for the same sort of cash which is a bit odd since Hawleys is about one third of the size and far less data in it - weird.

DaveC, I picked up a couple of pairs from Snow and Rock on sale for £10 each. They are the 'light' PHD ones but provide plenty padding. Seems reasonable to me considering usual retail is £20ish. I paid $50 for a pair at LL because I forgot to pick up mine when I left in the morning rolling eyes

davkt, The way I saw it although its lovely to have the 'latest' of whatever you buy, things like chemical constants don't change. I bet many of the tables in mine will be identical to those in your copy. Indeed the 86th will be newest that I've ever owned and worked from. Currently a brand new edition retails at £95 plus postage so I think my £20 was quite a bargain. This edition is still 'new' came in its perspex it's just the 2005-6 edition, but its still as gorgeous as a book as the old ones are - hardback - this edition is black and mid blue colour band, those lovely fine pages, and the finger index markings to open the pages where the tables start - the sort of book that just invites browsing. I've already started to use it for work and it only arrived today. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

davkt, I carried on searching for a CCD. In the finish found a 13th edition on Allibris. I had a couple of 2nd hand books posted through them all the way from Callifornia a couple of weeks ago - I sent money off into the ether and about 4 weeks later via surface mail the books duly turned up - though then I spent £40+

Would you believe a book that 2nd hand in the UK would set me back £40+ for a single copy I have just managed to buy from a 2nd hand dealer in Iowa USA, for £9.70 and that for £2.76 they will ship it to me all that distance?!! Isn't that incredible? I do so love the internet Very Happy
