Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Does anyone know the glacier skiing nearish to St Anton? I have accomodation offered to me in St A during late spring and summer and want to know if it is worth popping over for a few mornings' skiing and afternoon's walking

If you know, can you post info on where, distance and degree of difficulty/extent of resort

Without double-checking a map, B00thy, I'd guess that the Stubai Glacier - which is not too far from Innsbruck - would be closest to St Anton.

Certainly worth a visit. A lovely valley and quite good glacier skiing.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I'd think Pitztal is closer but they're both over a couple of hours from St Anton I'd think.

A couple of hours is OK. Leaving at 7:30 I'd be in a carpark by 9:30 and skiing by 10. But excuse my ignorance - I have never been summer skiing before. Will this be too late for glacier skiing. Do I need to be arriving in resort earlier like 8 or 8:30?
Puzzled

B00thy, Yup, that's too late. You need to be skiing at 8am or as early as the lifts open.

Hmm. Up at 4:30. Leave by 5:00. In resort by 7:00. Buy ticket. 7:15. At least 2, maybe 3 rides to get to glacier by 8:00

Ski till 12:00 (please don't tell me it's earlier).

Lunch in resort till 2pm. Innsbruck for the afternoon till 6pm. Back in St Anton by 7pm.

Doesn't sound that bad! Laughing
