Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I'd like to tell you about all the great products the French ski industry has lined up for 2006 but sadly I can't. SnowBySIG is supposed to be France’s premier ski and snowboard show - but not if you turn up at 2pm on the last day it is not. “We’re closed” announced the stroppy security guard to the queue of visitors. “No you are not, the show is supposed to be open to 5pm,” I insisted. “The organizers have decided to close the show early, everyone is going home, no one is coming in, those are my orders”. Certainly the crowd standing outside the locked gates were not coming in.

He was grumpy so may have had peasant roots... but I would be grumpy explaining all afternoon to people why they couldn't come in to an expo that was supposed to be open to the public until 5pm.

Hmm. Early closing is a big no-no at the exhibtions my copmpany has exhibited. Sloppy standards, to say the least.

Boardski, I have a feeling that he is not! The next question could be the nightmare scenario though - Is Grenoble, a Centre of Excellence, for the art of Striking? Skullie

I'm not sure it is any worse than elsewhere. The schoolkids are protesting about a reform in the French 'A' level system that was passed through parliament yesterday. To summarize the reforms there is a cut back in teaching staff to mentor 16-18 year olds, more continuous assessment and the "dissertation" element of the exam is going. There is nothing particularly radical in the reforms and some commentators say that the kids are dupes of the left wing opposition. I guess their parents don't set the best example. (BTW this is my summary, usual caveats apply).

Back to the SnowBySIG Bernard Volk, the exhibition organiser declared himself well satisfied with the 4 day (ahem I mean 3.5 day) show. This seems to a French thing which carries through to hotels, the ESF etc, who cares if you p*ss-off a certain number of people so long as there are still a certain percentage of punters who keep coming back.
