Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

St Christoph (Arlberg) Eurotest

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Been a while now since I have posted. Busy skiing I guess. Having got the Test Technique out of the way so I can work in France I've got a base setup to work on the remainder of my exams. Just want to have an early crack at the Eurotest though to get it out of the way so its no longer at the back of my mind. It would be very useful to get some info on the test I may soon book onto in Austria.

I am just wondering if anyone is familiar with the piste used to run the Eurotests at St Christoph?

Also, if so can you compare it to the ADH race piste? Comparative length/steepness/long flats???

Does anyone know if training is offered on the race piste before the Eurotests are run. If so is this training worthwhile. (I have asked this to the organisers aswell so expecting a reply soon)

Finally, any insider information on accommodation nearby?. I have seen some for 47 (B+B) per night but would preferably like to get it cheaper than this, basic is fine!

Thanks for any help with this! I dont know anybody locally who has done the St Christoph test.

Thankyou!

Ross.

R555MAC, Can't help you out on the relevant piste I'm afraid. St Christoph hardly has any accommodation and is mainly decent standard hotels. You could try Stuben down the road as this is probably one of the cheapest bases for the Arlberg (although Klosterle, St Jakob and Strengen would be cheaper - but not as convenient for St Christoph). Depends on what time your course would start but I'm guessing 5 mins in a taxi from Stuben to St Christoph or a 20 (ish) minute ski

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks, I will have a car with me so is there plenty of parking up in the resort if I were to drive up each day?

Maybe I should have posted in 'Bend Ze Knees'

R555MAC, Mmmmm. St Christoph hardly has any parking because a) it's tiny and b) gets absolutely tonnes of snow. There are areas for parking certainly and would imagine that you should be able to get a space. There may even be an underground car park but as I usually go past the place in a taxi or stop off for lunch, I've never realy taken notice of parking facilities.
Stuben could work as a base as there is a decent sized car park there and will undoubtedly be cheaper than St Christoph. Nasserein and St Jakob at St Anton would provide you with accommodation around €35 pn but would inolve around a 10-15 drive.
stanton is usually on hand to dish out some advice on the Arlberg, so he may be better placed on the parking front than me
What time of year would you be heading there?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

If I do go then it will be purely for the eurotest which is taking place from the 21st to the 22nd. If there is any pre race training on offer I may be there for 2 or 3 days before hand aswell. Although I haven't had anything back to know if training will be available.
