Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi,
We are planning on arriving in resort about 10am on saturday so that we can ski all day until we can get into our chalet at 5pm. Can anyone suggest the best place to park so we can get the most of our extra day. Any other tips/hints including good options for lunch would be helpful
Thanks

fizz, There is free parking on the approach road to the resort, about 10 seconds walk to the piste - bottom of Cairn lift

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Where are you staying.
You can park outside your accomadation for the first day if it's a Saturday.
When you finish skiing buy a parking ticket starting from the next day.
Make sure that the car is in the parking space before 10am or they'll tow you.
Chalet deux Lacs at the top of Deux lacs lift is very good as is chalet marine off the Cascades chair lift.
Face west (formerly Scapin) at top of retour lifts near the Fitzroy is good for plat de jour and pizzas.

We're (I'm going with Fizz... well, she is my wife ), staying in Chalet Val 2400 in the Les Balcons area, if that helps.
Plan on leaving Lyon around 6am which has generally got us passed Moutiers for 9am hence the target of ~10am, although we normally go to Sainte Foy, so not sure how long the Moutiers to ValT road is.....

It takes about 40 mins from Moutiers to VT.
Stick to the localised speed limits as they have checkpoints in the 50kph zones.
Park in P0 if available.

Fizz - Chalet Deux Lacs is our favourite for lunch (cozy inside on a snowy day / nice terrace outside), just ski left at top of chairlift of same name. Would highly recommend the pizzas. This area should give you access to some good skiing on your first day - you can either pop over to Orelle as someone else has suggested or play around the Portette, Moraine and Cascade lifts. Think they are expecting snow on Saturday. Enjoy!

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.
