Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Recommend me a thin, light, cool jacket for spring skiing?

I was sweating like the proverbial glass-blower's ar$e last week skiing in the hot sun in Wengen so I'm after a new jacket for my next trip. Any recommendations for something that's light and cool for skiing on sunny spring days?

What's your budget? I have a very thin light Arcteryx Stingray jacket which has been superb in both spring (with just a a T shirt) and winter with 3 layers....

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Get a shell jacket, most companies do them - same water/wind proofing and breathability (or better) as a normal jacket, no insulation. In the winter just layer up with thermals and you've got a super flexible jacket.

jonm, i've just bought this green windstopper with a 15% discount from Tamarack outdoors http://products.norrona.com/webshop/tradepoint/b2c/ItemView.aspx?ID=3150-09%203398

Very light, keeps the wind out and sleeves zips all the way down from armpit to cuff so you can tuck them away when touring.

Also have a Haglofs pro shell for when the weather is bad but pro shells don't breathe well (whatever the claims) so you sweat your dangly bits off if its hot or you're going uphill.

Or Aldi softshells if you want something cheap and can find one still (bought mine about this time last year way after the offers but needed to try a few branches to find one), wore mine with just a merino t shirt (Aldi as well!) under in temps between about 0 and -5 on holiday.

jonm, before the start of the season i purchased the Northface Freethinker Jacket

http://www.ellis-brigham.com/cgi-bin/psProdDet.cgi?prod_code_in=306900#

I also found that it even kept me warm even when the temperatures got really low so i will be using it as an all season jacket instead of just a spring jacket which was the intention when i bought it.
