Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi, just bought a pair of Atomic Hawx 80 boots which at the shop seemed very comfy. Anyway was looking on the Atomic website and it seems these boots are "Therm-ic prepared". what does this mean exactly? do i just need to buy the battery pack and it will work or do i need a separate heating element? How/where would the battery pack be installed and can this be easily done by myself? thanks

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

He's away- look for cables and contacts I'd guess.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

mmdpkaaa, I think you'll find that there are cables in the boots? I have the same type. But yes, you need to buy the battery packs, which are the expensive bit. If you don't have any built in cables, then phone the shop you bought them from?

Oh - another thought. If you have had individual footbeds made for you, replacing the ones originally in the boots, then you probably haven't got them, though you can get conformable footbeds with the heating connection in. However, it's not a problem - just buy the complete kit, which can be retro-fitted to any footbeds.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I think for the Hawx 80 thermic prepared just means the liner has a slit at the heel to allow the elements to be installed easily, and also a clip on the back of the cuff onto which you can mount the battery pack. I'm afraid you'll probably have to buy both if you want toasty toes!

You'll need to Register first of course.

some come with a basic footbed and cable, others just as has been described have the slit and the battery hanger
if you had footbeds then they probably took out the stock insole with the element, if not then you will defiantely need to buy a battery and possibly an element as well...not cheap but if you get cold feet it is worth the money
